The different types of RVs include:

• Towable RVs are attached to or pulled by a motor vehicle. They range from traditional travel trailers to folding camping trailers. Thanks to recent advancements in manufacturing, some of these trailers can now even be towed by a family car.
• Motorized RVs are designed to offer fully contained, temporary living spaces. This category includes three different classes of RVs.
• Class A motorhomes are the largest and most expensive type of motorized RV. They can reach up to 45 feet in length and typically feature slide-outs, providing the most spacious accommodations.
• Class B, commonly referred to as a camper van, is the smallest RV class. While they are the most affordable of the three motorized RV types, the lower price comes with a trade-off in size and available amenities.
• Class C RVs are a middle ground between Class A and Class B in terms of size. They are smaller than Class A but larger than Class B. Some models feature slide-outs like Class A RVs, and most can comfortably sleep up to 8 people.
• Park Model RVs are built to resemble a home and are intended to remain at a single campground for an extended period. They typically feature full-sized appliances and are designed for long-term living.

The type of RV you own and how you use it will determine the RV insurance coverages you need. For both Towable and Motorized RVs, many of the same coverages offered on your Auto policy are available for your RV policy, including Liability, Collision, and Comprehensive coverage. However, for Park Models and some Class A RVs, coverage options more aligned with your Homeowners policy are recommended. Some of these additional RV coverages include:

• Vacation Liability provides coverage if someone is injured at your campsite. This coverage is designed for individuals who use their RV as a permanent residence.
• Personal Effects coverage protects the personal belongings stored in your RV. Most insurers reimburse you for the replacement cost of your items rather than their current value.
• Emergency Expense coverage reimburses you for temporary living costs if your RV is disabled due to a covered loss. Many insurers offer this coverage at no additional cost for Full-Time RVers.
